Arts in care homes week

We’re celebrating National Activity Providers Association NAPA’s Arts in Care Homes Week 18-24 September culminating in the National Day of Arts in Care Homes.

The aim is to champion, promote and encourage arts engagement in care settings and highlight the health and wellbeing benefits for all involved.

This is what we do! Crafting Connections - is the perfect fit!

For older people, Crafting Connections…

 Reduces loneliness and social isolation:

Crafting Connections offers a supportive community where older people can connect, make friends, and combat feelings of loneliness. Engaging in meaningful interactions with children creates a vibrant and uplifting environment, nurturing a sense of belonging and social connection.

Create a feel-good factor of contribution:

By sharing their knowledge, skills, and life experiences, older people experience the joy of contributing to a child’s development. Making a positive impact on a child’s life brings a sense of purpose, accomplishment, and fulfilment, enhancing overall well-being and self-worth.

An enriching, engaging activity with a purpose:

Crafting Connections provides older people with an enriching and purposeful activity that stimulates their creativity, cognitive abilities, and motor skills. Engaging in arts and crafts promotes mental agility, dexterity, and an overall sense of accomplishment, leading to a more fulfilling and joyful life.

“As an Activities Coordinator I wanted to do something that keeps my residents busy, something to occupy their minds, so they could make new friends and get involved in our local community.” - Care Home Activities Coordinator

“Crafting Connections has given our arts and crafts a big boost. They now have a purpose, the residents are busy (each session they will work away for 30-45 mins producing drawings we never thought possible).”

“I have engaged on a more authentic level with some of our residents who are reluctant to participate in other organised activities.”
- Care Home Manager

“All our residents love Crafting Connections - A great experience that keeps the residents busy and they're so excited waiting for the post each month. Keeping the residents busy, involved with small children, involved in the community - makes them far happier.”
