About The Together Project

The Together Project’s vision is a society in which younger and older people actively enhance each others’ lives. We contribute to this through joyful intergenerational activities that reduce loneliness, improve wellbeing, tackle ageism and help integrate local communities.

The first activity we’ve launched is Songs & Smiles – music, fun and friendship for 0-4 year olds, their grown-ups and care home residents. It brings happiness to hundreds of people every single week and has had a profound impact on many individuals. 

We’re a young Community Interest Company with a start-up mentality and a drive to create lasting social change. Our ethos is to think big and to act with both heart and mind.

About the role

The Community Coordinator will be pivotal in rolling out our ambitious growth plan. You’ll be the face of the organisation to local communities, promoting our work and liaising with parents/guardians, community groups, online outlets and more to ensure our sessions remain as popular as ever.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and deploying outreach strategies that spread the word about Songs & Smiles to families with young children, from running social media ads to speaking with parents at Children’s Centres

  • Managing session bookings and all communication with parents/guardians, making sure you have a proactive plan in place to keep attendance numbers high across every group

  • Maintaining and updating our print and digital/social media event listings, publicity material and databases

  • Management of equipment and stock levels at our Songs & Smiles groups

  • Supporting the rest of the team with other tasks to grow and sustain the organisation, such as volunteer management, administration and so forth

You’ll be joining at an exciting time; we’ve recently secured National Lottery funding to launch in a network of new care homes and have other exciting partnerships and opportunities in the pipeline.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who has the following professional experience and personal qualities.

Professional experience

  • Experience of running a fast-moving project with deadlines and delivering successful outcomes

  • Fully IT literate with experience of programmes such as Word and Excel

  • Good professional grasp of how to use online and offline communications channels to reach new audiences and connect with existing ones

Personal qualities

  • Enthusiasm for joining a young start-up and working in a small team

  • A demonstrable commitment to our vision, values and work and a desire to help bring about social change

  • A confident self-starter who takes full ownership of tasks and strives to achieve excellent results

  • A creative thinker who loves trying out new ideas

  • First-rate written, communication and time-management skills

  • Organised and efficient, able to keep on top of multiple work streams at once with high attention to detail
