Community Connections: The Together Project's Partnership with 17 & Central

At The Together Project, we're bursting with excitement to share some wonderful news – we've teamed up with 17 & Central, and together, we're on a mission to spread joy and combat loneliness in our own community of Walthamstow!

Charity partner of the year

Being selected as 17 & Central's Charity of the Year for 2024 is an incredible honour and a testament to the impact of our work. We're deeply grateful for the recognition and support from the local community and the team at 17 & Central.

The shopping centre’s Marketing Manager, Gwendolyne Lobo said:

“We were so impressed by The Together Project’s charity’s work, which brings together different generations, tackles loneliness, boosts wellbeing and helps to build a happy community and it was clearly a popular choice with local residents, given the amount of glowing emails we received. For many, it’s a real lifeline.”

Community connections

As an organisation rooted in Walthamstow, our community holds a special place in our hearts. From our dedicated staff and volunteers to the families and older adults we serve, each member contributes to the tapestry of connections that make The Together Project so special.

Talking about the new partnership, The Together Project’s Founder and CEO, Louise Goulden said:

We're overjoyed to have been selected as 17 & Central's charity partner. We can't wait to work with the team on our mission to tackle loneliness and spread joy.

Impact on our community's well-being

Our partnership with 17 & Central promises an exciting calendar of events and fundraising opportunities throughout the year. There’ll be something for everyone to enjoy and support.

17 & Central have already kicked off the partnership with a bang, raising nearly £350 through a community allotment activity and an Eid event. But this is just the beginning – together with 17 & Central, we're determined to surpass expectations and make an even greater impact on our community's well-being.

Your generous support

Crucially, donations play a vital role in sustaining our impactful programs. With the generous support of our community, we can continue running initiatives like 'Songs & Smiles,' our intergenerational music group, which fosters meaningful connections between young children, their families, and older adults in care homes.

‘Songs & Smiles’, runs in five Waltham Forest care homes every week, bringing together 0-4-year-olds, their parents/guardians and residents of the homes to sing, move, play and form long-lasting friendships.

Just imagine the impact: £10 could fill a care home with bubbles for a year, creating moments of delight for residents of all ages. With £40, we could equip our community with the tools to create beautiful music together, fostering connections that transcend generations.

To support our cause and join us in creating a more connected, joyful community, 17 & Central have set up a JustGiving page. Your generosity will directly benefit those we serve, bringing smiles to faces young and older alike.

Join us on this journey of joy, connection, and community building. Together, we can make a difference that lasts a lifetime – and beyond.
