About Songs & Smiles

Songs & Smiles aims to be the most uplifting hour of the week! The expert-designed sessions combine music, movement and singing with the chance to make new friends in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Each session follows a set format, using a combination of nursery rhymes, old favourites and popular hits from across the decades, accompanied by percussion instruments, coloured scarves and the ever-popular bubble machine. The result is a fun, uplifting atmosphere that encourages participation, nurtures personal development and boosts confidence for each age group.

We’re looking for people who…

Can confidently engage a roomful of people and will bring fun and energy (you don’t need to be a pro-level singer).

Will derive job satisfaction from making a difference to people’s lives.

Are reliable, trustworthy and can commit to weekly term-term sessions.

Are sensitive to the needs of parents, young children and older adults and understanding of the challenges they may be facing.

What you can expect from us

Full training in how to run the sessions via in-person shadowing, step-by-step video content and a handbook.

Ongoing support from our friendly team throughout your time working with us.

A freelance rate of £37.50 per session, with no costs incurred from your side (other than travel at your own expense).

A full kit supplied, containing everything you need to run your sessions.

We arrange your sessions and take care of all the marketing and bookings (you just concentrate on the fun part - leading the sessions!).

Next steps
Our current priority focus is filling Friday sessions all over London, sessions in South London, and recruiting a leader for Braintree in Essex. However, we will be expanding London-wide over the coming months so would love to hear from you wherever in London you’re based.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an audition.

We’ll be in touch within five working days with more information and to arrange a chat. If you have any questions, you can contact us at alexa@thetogetherproject.org.uk

Want to work outside London? We’re always looking to expand further afield, so please use the same form to send us your details and we’ll get back to you.
